Crocheted Baby Blanket

Good Evening,

I don't really have much time lately to do my own personal Crocheting  these days because my time is taken up with our 'SIBOL' project, but I have found time to make a Baby Blanket for my friend's daughter. I thought I would make the Blanket in James Brett Double Knitting yarn. Shade 13.

I went on to You Tube Yolanda Soto Lopez Here's the Link.

Crocheted Baby Blanket. Not a SIBOL!

I hope it's liked.

I can't believe we are up to SIBOL 421!

Good Morning,

421 'Sally' assembled thank you.

I am here again with yet another stunning blanket. This one has been assembled by Sally here in the UK. What a remarkable job she has made of it once again! A great selection of Knitted and Crocheted Squares in this blanket and I would like to thank everyone for sending them to me. I just love the border that she has added to the Squares, it really finishes it off beautifully. Love the combination of colours too. What a treat!

Good Morning to you all!

Today I have received a bumper parcel from cosseted (Wales) for our 'SIBOL' project.  The parcel was full of Butterflies, Squares and beautiful Blankets. I'm sure you are eager to look at what's new.

First of all 'cosseted' very kindly offered to make up a bag of 25 Squares for me. I would like to thank everyone for sending in these gorgeous Squares. I'm sure you will love the finished Blanket.

Thanks to everyone for sending in the Squares for this blanket.

It's great how Squares come together in a Blanket.

The next one involves our 'SIBOL' Butterflies.
'cosseted' has very kindly made a Blanket for our Butterfly Challenge.
This is so pretty. I love the colours, I love the pattern.

The pattern was given to us by Luna over in the States and I'm sure she would be very pleased to see how this has turned out.

Squares made by an 80 year old Lady.

Good Morning!

I'm very pleased to be showing you two new Blankets which I have put together over the last couple of days. The '50' Squares in these two Blankets came from 'Grace' who is 80 and lives in Sheltered Accommodation here in Birmingham. If you remember 'Anne' very kindly made up two Blankets recently. Grace had actually made 100 in total. Fabulous! Thank you Grace.

What I like about these Squares is that the yarn is doubled up and incorporating the white really gives them a marbled look and the Blankets are so warm and chunky.

I found some pretty Butterflies to dress them up too!

I'm really pleased how these Blankets have turned out.

Something new to see!

Good Afternoon,

I am very pleased to be showing you two beautiful Blankets which Pippa has assembled for us. The Squares were made by Grace who lives in Sheltered accommodation at Rowheath House.  Grace is in her 80's. She sits crocheting away for our SIBOL project and I'm so pleased that it gives her something to do. The Squares are made in double yarn and they are so pretty.

Let's take a look at the Blankets now.

Grace in her 80's at one of the homes I visit has made these Squares. pippa has assembled them into two beautiful Blankets. Thank you!

It's not Autumn yet!

Hi everyone!

408 'Autumn Leaves' - 'Leaves Challenge'.

I'm always so excited when a new Challenge is 'done and dusted' so to speak. I had such fun collecting the Squares for our 'Leaves' Challenge and once again we have received a great variety of different designs. The Leaves have been Crocheted and  Knitted in wonderful colours.

I can't wait to show you.

This Blanket comprises of 36 Squares and I Crocheted the border from Edie Eckman's book 'Around the Corner Crochet Borders'. This is an excellent book and even I can understand it. The border is Number 21. I tried to pick up the rusty colour from one of the Squares and hope they look like leaves!

Thanks to everyone for sending Squares for this Challenge.

I'm afraid I can't do one of my Slide Shows at the moment, because Flickr has changed and every time I copy and paste the html into the Slide Show site it doesn't work. I'm not a happy bunny this evening.
Sorry about that.

Why do they have to change things?
Everything was great before.

I hope you like 'Autumn Leaves'.
Thanks to everyone who contributed Squares for this Challenge once again.

Thanks for visiting me this evening.

Grannies Galore!

Good Afternoon,

044

I am so excited to be showing you four beautiful Granny Blankets which have arrived today from Denise and the Crafting Ladies at Tindall Riley (London).    I'm going to show you part of the letter she sent to me.

"4 Blankets from the crafting Ladies at Tindall Riley. They craft and hold sales to raise money for charity and call themselves the "TR Bag Ladies". We hope they are suitable for your cause. They have certainly served us well as an opportunity to teach crochet and have the learners see rapid results from their efforts of contributions".

I am absolutely over the moon with these beautiful Blankets especially because I know that you have gone to such a lot of trouble teaching the Ladies in your Group the art of crochet. Each one of the Squares in these Blankets have been made so well and I wouldn't know that the Ladies are beginners by any means! A great selection of Squares in each of the four Blankets made in wonderful colour combinations. The Blankets all have pretty borders too and are perfect sizes for the Elderly ideal to throw over their laps. They are so warm too, I absolutely love them.

I'm really pleased that you think the 'SIBOL' project has been worthy of your time and would you please thank each of the Ladies for their hard work. I know that these Blankets are going to be so well received when I go out on my next deliveries. I did actually put a letter in the post today to tell you that they had arrived okay because I couldn't find your email address. (sueatpigsty@talktalk.net/Sue)

Let's take a look now at these pretty Blankets.

The second of our 'Fruit and Veg' SIBOL Blankets is finished!

Good afternoon everyone!

I am very happy to be showing you the second of the Fruit and Vegetable blankets. It's called 'Five-a-day!'  I've had such fun making these blankets up and I would like to thank everyone for sending in the Squares for this particular Challenge. You certainly have used your creativity once again to make these amazing Squares.  The blanket is slightly larger than our usual 25 Squares it's comprising this time of 30, once again though a nice lap blanket size.

Thanks to everyone who sent in Squares for this 2nd 'Fruit and Veg' Blanket.

This Challenge has been very popular indeed.
Can you spot Mr. Onion?

I can just imagine the Elderly talking about this blanket.
It's so colourful and really interesting, what fun!

A beautiful blanket from Wales arrives today!

Good evening,

I am very pleased to be showing you a blanket that has arrived from divip (RAV/Wales) today. This blanket is just so soft and made in beautiful pastel granny squares. This is the first blanket that has been made by divip for 'SIBOL', and it's an absolute pleasure to receive it. What beautiful colours have been used in this blanket.

We certainly are receiving some beautiful blankets for the Elderly and I know that this one too is just going to be loved by an Elderly person. It's very summery I love it. Thank you so much divip I am very grateful to you.

Let's take a look now. I did ask divip if she had a name and she came up with 'A cwtch from Cardiff'. She said in her mail, "I don't have a name and yippee it's my first blanket clearly isn't a suitable name :) In Wales we call a cuddle a cwtch so maybe a cwtch from Cardiff  - I'll be happy with whatever choice is made. To pronounce cwtch  its c as in cat , w as in the double oo in hook  ignore the t and ch as in church".

A great name thank you! The Butterflies were from my stash by the way and match the yarn perfectly!

I've made a Slide Show for you now divip!

We have now made 400 'Sunshine Blankets' for the Elderly here in the UK! Thank you!

Good afternoon and thanks for visiting 'Mrs Twins',

My original idea back in January 2010 was to make half a dozen Blankets for the Elderly. Today I am very pleased to say we have now clocked up 400! Simply amazing and I would like to thank you all for the beautiful Crocheted and Knitted Squares that I have received along the way. Not only do I receive your Squares but also your donated blankets and for these I am very grateful too. 'SIBOL' is a place where we can be 'creative' amongst friends but at the same time we are doing something really worthwhile for our older generation. Our 'Sunshine Blankets' are making a difference to the lives of the Elderly in Care/Nursing Homes//Sheltered accommodation and vunerable people out in the community so a big thank you!

We have a great group over on RAVELRY and everyone is welcome to join us. So please follow   http://www.ravelry.com/groups/-sibol-

One of our recent Challenges was a Fruit and Veg one. I am very pleased to say that I have finished the first of two Blankets for this particular Challenge. I would like to thank everyone who has taken part. The talent of you all has definitely shone  through in the Squares that I have received. Let's take a look now.

I would like to thank everyone for the Squares that I have received for this Blanket.

Sit back and enjoy your Slide Show now!

'Garden Trellis' a beautiful Summery Blanket.

Welcome to 'Mrs Twins',

Today I have received 'Garden Trellis' from Gina here in the UK. What a stunning blanket this is! Gina has very kindly suggested this name because it reminds her of square trellis with flowers on.

Just look at the Squares in this blanket all made in such wonderful co-ordinating colours. What a beautiful summery blanket. Gina also very kindly made three Butterflies which she very kindly attached and I have added some Ribbon from my stash too. Your work is so beautiful Gina and I am very grateful to you for donating it for the Elderly. Thank you so much, what a treat for someone.

What a stunner! Thank you so much!

I've made a Slide Show for you Gina, sit back and enjoy!
