Ta - Dah! Introducing SIBOL 360!

Good Morning everyone!

This morning I received 'Here Comes The Sunburst!' It was sent to me by one of our 'SIBOLETTE's' Liztelf.  This is such a pretty Blanket made in a great combination of colours and the pattern by Priscilla Hewitt is an all time favourite.

Liztelf actually put a thread up on RAVELRY back in November telling the Ladies that she was going to try her hand at Flat Braid joining.   It has been lovely over the last few months to share her journey.  Not only has she made a wonderful Blanket for the Elderly she has learnt a new technique. The support and friendship of Ladies in our Group has helped her achieve a new skill.

Liztelf took part in one of our Challenges 'Make your own SIBOL Challenge' and I'm very pleased to accept such a wonderful Blanket. All details are on here.

Let's take a look at 'Here Comes The Sunburst!'

Liz thank you for making and donating this gorgeous Blanket.

It was such fun to take photos this morning.

Liztelf you have put a lot of time and thought in to this Blanket, thank you so much for donating it to 'SIBOL'. This is Number 360!

Thank you very much,

Do you like our 'SIBOL' 'Freeform Blanket?'

Good Evening and welcome to 'Mrs Twins'

I have received some beautiful Squares and Blankets over the past few days and this afternoon I have finally been able to load all the photos up (please pop over to SIBOL), I'm so sorry for the delay. We have had Squares come in from Marilyn, angelfee, bonsall and Joanna I do hope you will scroll down a few Blog posts and view them. They are so nice.

I have also received a beautiful Granny Square Blanket from Joanna and also a very special Challenge Blanket from 'creativegranny'.

At the beginning of January this year 'creativegranny' very kindly invited Ladies to take part in a 'Freeform Challenge'. Do you remember back in 2012, she also organised the Challenge for the Wall Hanging? Well anyway she invited Ladies to send her a small 6" 'patch' or 'scrumble'.  Her idea this time to make a Blanket for the Elderly.  She gave instructions of what the requirements were.  I'm going to let you read what she wrote so you can see what the Challenge was all about.

Hi Sibolettes. Welcome to 2013.

I would like you to send me ‘patches’ or ‘scrumbles’ of roughly 6” in Blues or Greens.Only Acrylic yarns to be used. NO FANCY YARNS as it must be washable. They may be one colour or a mixture of Blues/Greens. No squares. It will be one piece when assembled so would you please take a photo before you send your pieces as you may not be able to distinguish which is your ‘patch’ when finished.
This should be easier than the last FREEFORM CHALLENGE as it doesn’t need to be square. The size isn’t crucial so please have a go ladies. You all made some wonderful squares for the last challenge and this one should be easy peasy.

It wasn't long after that the 'patches' or 'scrumbles' started arriving at her home. Of course there were a few nerves flying around cyberspace at first, but 'creativegranny' gave lots of reassurance to the Ladies in our Group and she was always there to sort out any problems or queries they might have.

Well today is our Ta - Dah!

I'm very pleased to be showing you this stunning 'Freeform Blanket'
made in Blues/Greens this is an exceptional piece of work.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this Blanket.

How beautiful is this Blanket?

'creativegranny' has worked terribly hard organising this Challenge, keeping a record
of who sent what and finally sewing the 'scrumbles' together. I'm sure you will agree this is a 'work of art'.

This Blanket is going to be put with our Challenge Blankets and when I have finished all the Challenges
I shall be delivering the Blankets to a deserving Home.

Who-ever receives this Blanket is just going to love it.
I would like to thank everyone who sent 'creativegranny' a 'scrumble'
and of course 'creativegranny' for taking charge of this wonderful Challenge.

Created with flickr slideshow.

This surely has been a fantastic Challenge and I'm sure 'creativegranny' can think of something else
to inspire the Ladies of SIBOL to come out of their comfort zones and try something new once again!

What a success!

I shall be taking this Blanket along to the Craft Evening on 12th March to show them what our Group is capable of.

Thanks everyone!

Have a lovely evening and don't forget to scroll down!

A pretty Granny Square Blanket.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for visiting 'Mrs Twins'  today.

I would like to thank Joanna here in the UK, for making and donating this beautiful Granny Square Blanket.
The small Squares in the Blanket are set in blocks of four and they are colour co-ordinated so well. Joined and finished off using a beautiful Grape colour yarn this Blanket is a winner! Joanna tells me she used odd bits of yarn to make the Squares and Crocheted them on the evenings after a days work which she finds relaxing.

This is such a pretty Blanket, so striking with the grape yarn I think. I know that this Blanket is going to be loved by who-ever receives it.

Isn't this gorgeous!

Two Grape coloured Butterflies accompanied this Blanket too!
Thanks for sending them to me Joanna.
You are very kind making this Blanket for the Elderly.

Our first Delivery of the year!

Good afternoon and welcome to 'Mrs Twins',

It's surprising how quickly our Blankets mount up again. Before Christmas we delivered quite a large amount to local Care Homes and my stock apart from Challenge Blankets was zero.  So when I was contacted by a Care Company before Christmas unfortunately I couldn't go and see them. I'm very pleased to be telling you that today I could and I went off to see Michelle Oliver - the Manager  at Clarence Care in Birmingham. I'll give you the link  and you can find out more about the Company. They have several Older people on their records who would benefit from our Blankets and I'm only too pleased to help them.

Over the past few days I have been getting the Blankets ready for them.

Delivery Day 12/02/2013. Clarence Care Birmingham.

On meeting Michelle I was invited up in to the office and offered coffee. There I met the Director and other members of Staff, what a lovely bunch of people so friendly and welcoming.

First of all Michelle told me a little about the work they do and then I told her about my Grandmother and why I started the SIBOL project.  Of course I had to tell her about all the Ladies in our Group and how terribly talented you all are!  I also mentioned our Charity Blankets and how much we had raised for various Charities, also mentioning our work now for Marie Curie.  Michelle and everyone else were really interested. and our blankets were accepted so well and I know from speaking to Michelle that these Blankets are going to people who need a little comfort in their lives.

Of course I couldn't come away without getting a photo for you! The other Blankets were behind us, sorry they aren't in the photo!

Clarence Care receiving 6 Blankets today! ~Thanks to everyone!

From Michelle and the Staff at Clarence Care a big 'Thank you!'. I would like to thank Michelle and Staff for such a warm friendly welcome too!

cromad has sent in a pretty Daffodil Square for our Marie Curie Cancer Care Challenge, two Squares for our Stash and a 'Raised Flower Square'. This one is a pretty Pansy design I just love it. Thank you so much cromad and I'm pleased that the Squares have arrived safely. Your Crocheting is really lovely it's always such a pleasure to receive your Squares.

A gorgeous Heart Blanket.

Hi everyone!

I'm very pleased to be showing you two super Blankets which arrived at the weekend from joyce28.

The first one is a beautiful Heart Blanket. This Blanket was a complete surprise and it was made out of Granny Squares. What a wonderful design! I love the combination of colours in this Blanket. I wonder whether joyce28 made it especially as we are near to Valentines  Day?  I have added two Butterflies and a dangling Heart. I think  I shall keep this Blanket and give it out when I take the Challenge Blankets in. It really is another piece of Art!

009

What a beauty! The Heart really stands out against the Green I think.

The second Blanket is 'Think Pink' (5). joyce28 has very kindly assembled 25 Squares for our Breast Cancer Care fund raising. I would like to thank everyone who contributed Squares for this special Blanket, it surely is a stunner. I love it. joyce28 you have made a great job of putting it altogether, the border finishes it off nicely too. I love the variety of the Squares in this Blanket.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this gorgeous Blanket.

3/9 Marie Curie Cancer Care Daffodil Blanket

Good Afternoon,

I am so....excited to be popping in to 'Mrs Twins' this afternoon because I had a parcel arrive this morning from mandas challenges here in the UK and inside was a gorgeous Daffodil Blanket.  mandas challenges had tried  out a pattern which was designed by theemuts over on RAVERLY. After having a go at the Square she completely got 'hooked' on them and before she knew it  she had 23 before her eyes. Making that many she decided to make the 25 for a Daffodil Blanket and this is what she has come up with.

A gorgeous Daffodil Blanket mandas challenges. Thank you so much!

Isn't it gorgeous! It's a beautiful Square and I am very grateful to theemuts for allowing the SIBOLETTES to use her pattern. It's nice to use different background colours to see how the Square changes but still keeping the yellow of the Daffodil. I absolutely love it and this has saved me from collecting 25 Squares!

Created with flickr slideshow.

mandas challenges also made these pretty Squares.

mandas challenges 'Marie Curie Cancer Care Daffodil Challenge' Thank you!

Another Daffodil Square and  an Owl Square. I'm sorry we have finished the Owl Blanket now, but if it's okay with you I will keep the Square for the future. The Owl design is one of mandas own designs.

Owl Square. Thank you!

I'm so grateful to theemuts for designing the Daffodil Square and also to mandas challenges for a wonderful Blanket which will be donated to one of the 9 Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospices throughout the country.

Thanks for visiting today!

A great way to use yarn!

Good Afternoon,

This morning I received a parcel from Sally here in the UK. She has very kindly made these two Blankets for the Elderly (SIBOL). What a  surprise this morning I had no idea.  The first one a traditional Granny Square Blanket made in every colour you could imagine. What a fantastic way to use up un-wanted yarn.

The second is a Granny Square Blanket again made with smaller Squares. I love the colours in both Blankets  and both have really good complimentary borders.

What a joy Sally! Thank you very much indeed. You have spent quite a few hours working on these two Blankets and I really appreciate your help.

Let's take a look at them now.

Fantastic work.

I've made a Slide Show now for you! Enjoy looking at these two Blankets.
